This quick watercolour sketch is a development drawing for a colour relief or intaglio print. I'm interested in strong elemental shapes 'floating' on a ground of colour. Printing gives the opportunity to increase the physicality of the image through the texture of the ink mark. It is also my intention to puncture the paper and insert coloured embroidery thread on the edge if the main bowl form.
It is an image that has been in my sketchbook for some time as I've allowed the idea to grow and mature in my planning.
