monoprint
(private collection)
Titanic, when launched, was the largest moving object created by human will and was a wonder of the age. Her tragic fate shook the world.
This print was created using a process which transfers the painted marks from a glass plate onto the paper. There are several layers of working and transfers to achieve the finished result. Therefore each print is unique as only a pale 'ghost' image is left on the glass plate after each transfer.
MGY was Titanic's radio callsign. Early messages were transmitted in Morse code.
