H 220mm x W130mm
edition of five
The relationship between the artist and the model has a long history, being that of the observed and the observer. Sometimes a comfortable relationship exists which, at other times, is challenging and controversial. This print takes as subject the model in the studio. In the popular imagination, the artist's studio holds enduring fascination, for artists and non artists alike. It has many forms, but is seen as a place where creativity is present, witness to the alchemy of taking humble craft materials and turning them into something called art. It can be a private and solitary place, both of and apart from everyday life, or a busy and vibrant workshop. The countless mysteries of creative action and the myths and biographies of famous artists often find a centre in their studios where the work is created and their vision formed and developed.
I created this print using an easy cut vinyl plate. The style is concerned with angles and the contrasting shapes in black and white.
For information on how I transferred the image onto the vinyl check out the projects section.
